Arrested Was The Leader Of A 10-Man Gang That Performed A 7-Hour Robbery And Gang Rape In Nyamira

The primary suspect in a seven-hour armed robbery that left numerous people hurt and took stuff worth unknown has been captured by Nyamira police officers.

Detectives located and arrested Joseph Otieno Kevuva, the suspect, at the crime scene and then pursued him to his hiding location in Kondele, Kisumu.

 

His victims positively identified him.

He is thought to have been a member of a 10-person gang who brutally looted, raped, and defiled hundreds of people while besieging a farmstead in Keroka’s Kierran village.

 

“In the abominable incident that involved the attack of over 13 victims found within the homestead, assorted mobile phones, over Sh130,000 in cash, and more hundreds of thousands withdrawn from ATM banks were stolen,” the DCI said in a statement.

 

A nominated female MCA, a principal at a nearby high school, a CEC in the Nyamira County Government, an officer in Kenya Prisons, and a nurse at Nyamira County Hospital were among the victims of the raiding group.

A woman in her eighties was among the other victims, along with a college and a high school student.

 

The gang allegedly used beatings and threats of death to subdue the victims throughout the 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. on October 23 ordeal. As dawn broke, the gang is reported to have raped three women and beaten their feet.

 

As the investigation into the occurrence deepened, samples from the victims of sexual abuse were collected while the victims received care at several hospitals throughout the county.
