The Horn of Africa and around the world have benefited from Kenya’s contribution to peace and security, according to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. According to Mr. Blinken, Kenya under President William Ruto has made a name for itself as an advocate for regional security and peace.
Secretary Blinken praised Kenya for agreeing to head a global security support mission to Haiti. He promised that America would support efforts to stop the catastrophe in Haiti from worsening and protect human rights.
Additionally, Secretary Blinken praised Kenya for its efforts to resolve the Sudanese problem, advance peace in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, and combat terrorism in Somalia. He said it during a meeting with President Ruto on Thursday in New York.
The Secretary of State also praised Kenya for setting the example for climate action in Africa. President Ruto commended the US for taking part in the African Climate Summit and for pledging USD 30 million to advance food security in Africa which is climate-resilient. According to the president, Kenya is eager to investigate new trade and investment prospects with the US. He continued, “Kenya and the United States are actively working to strengthen our ties and advance shared interests.”
