Kenyans can now get high-quality healthcare right at their doorstep. This comes after President William Ruto unveiled kits to Community Health Promoters in Nairobi on Monday. He said that the unprecedented move will advance national universal health coverage. The President stated that professional doctors will oversee more than 100,000 health promoters in 47 Counties.
In keeping with our transformational approach to serving the people, Kenyans will henceforth be served at their homes, he said. He stated that employees will receive stipends from the National Government as payment. “I implore the medical professionals to serve Kenyans zealously; we must succeed in our fight for disease freedom.”
At Uhuru Park in Nairobi County on Monday, he addressed as he presented 100,000 Community Health Promoters Kits to each of the 47 County Governments. He emphasized that a specific package of preventative and promotional health services is made available to the health promoters.
Each promoter must serve 100 houses.
Basic tools for assessing household health will be given to them.
In order to convey information, instructions, and advice, they will also have smartphones.
To achieve a ratio of 23:10,000 between healthcare workers and the population, President Ruto indicated that the government will hire 20,000 healthcare professionals. Among the other leaders in attendance were Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha, Council of Governors chairperson Anne Waiguru, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, his spouse Dorcas, and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.
According to Mr. Gachagua, the intervention is intended to transform Kenya, particularly at the grassroots level.
