To increase tourism income, the government is keen on boosting cultural tourism.
The government will use Kenya’s rich cultural legacy to diversify its tourist attractions, according to President William Ruto.
He made the case that tourism now includes not only views and noises but also people.
He stated that the Government will work with the Counties to encourage efforts for cultural preservation.
He cited the funding for the Maa Cultural Festival, which will be held every year.
He declared that because modern tourists are driven to real cultural encounters, modern tourism must adhere to higher standards.
At the Maasai Cultural Festival in Sekenanie Gate, Narok County, he made the comments on Tuesday.
He was accompanied by the Cabinet Secretaries for Tourism and the Environment, Peninah Malonza and Soipan Tuya, as well as the Governors of Narok, Kajiado, and Samburu, Patrick Ole Ntutu and Jonathan Lati Leliliit.
He pointed out that the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization has designated meat-eating ceremonies, shaving of morans, and induction of boys prior to initiation as Intangible Cultural Items.
“I would like to express my gratitude to the Maasai community for their unrelenting dedication to maintaining Maa customs and culture. Your fortitude has given Kenya a worldwide identity and enhanced the cultural diversity of our country, he remarked.
