The faces of two Wells Fargo Company workers who are suspected of stealing Ksh.94,918,750 that was retrieved from a Quickmart store over the weekend have been made public by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Shortly after the money box was loaded on Monday morning, crew commander Daniel Mungai Mugetha and driver Anthony Nduiki Waigumo are reported to have surreptitiously left the police escort car waiting to be flagged off and driven off in their mission car.

“The crew responsible for escorting the armed truck, KBA 517T, went to ask the management why the loading was taking too long, not realizing that the vehicle had slithered off a few minutes before. Both the truck and the crew members were lost to trace by that point, according to a statement from DCI.

The company’s investigations manager filed a report stating that the truck was intended for a bank on Kenyatta Avenue in Nairobi, where the money was to be deposited.

After abandoning the car in Dafarm, South C, Nairobi, the two ran away to their hiding places.

The suspects are the target of a manhunt that has been initiated.
