President William Ruto has received appreciation from President Joe Biden for accepting the responsibility of leading Haiti’s peacekeeping operations.

According to President Biden, Haiti’s security mission, which is sponsored by the UN, aims to bring back peace and stability. The people of Haiti can’t wait much longer, so I call on the security council to approve this mission right away, he added. In President Ruto’s presence, he said the words during the UN General Assembly in New York.

At the Kenyan Mission in New York, he later met Alice Albright, CEO of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).

The signing of the USD 65 million Second Threshold Programme funds for the purchase of electric buses to run on the bus rapid transit (BRT) line 2 to relieve traffic congestion within the Nairobi Metropolitan Area was observed by President Ruto and Ms. Albright. The Head of State declared that in order to promote quick economic growth, the administration is working with development partners to speed up the construction of vital infrastructure.

On the fringes of the UNGA, the President also had discussions with heads of state and government about strengthening Kenya’s bilateral ties. The leaders decided to expand and research new facets of their partnership with Kenya.

They included Presidents of the Dominican Republic (Luis Abinader), Ukraine (Volodymyr Zelenskyy), Switzerland (Alain Berset), Cuba (Miguel Diaz-Canel), Kazakhstan (Kassym-Jomart Tokayev), Portugal (Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa), Angola (Joao Lourenco), and Italy (Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni).

In order to address the food scarcity in East Africa, President Zelenskyy promised to create a grain hub in the Port of Mombasa. For his part, President Ruto stated that Kenya supports a peaceful conclusion to the crisis between Russia and Ukraine in order to improve stability and lessen the suffering of the populace.

We firmly think that nations may establish cordial ties, work together to resolve global problems and adhere to common principles for everyone’s development.

Additionally, he met with World Bank President Ajay Banga and urged the organization to support the adoption of the Nairobi Declaration on Climate Change. The World Bank, he said, “is a valuable development partner, providing both technical and financial assistance to the programs that seek to uplift the common people in our country.”
