Detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) have taken Truphena Eshibukule Omung’ala Akide, the chief executive officer of the Public Service Board in Busia County, into custody.
According to an EACC source who spoke with Citizen Digital, Akide was arrested on Thursday at her Busia house for allegedly preventing the organization from looking into the devolved unit.
She was taken into custody after being captured and taken to the EACC Bungoma Regional Offices.
According to the source, Akide disobeyed the Commission’s demands to produce official documents that served as evidence in support of its inquiry into claims of corruption, official abuse, and unlawful hiring practices in the Bungoma County Government.
The law forbids anybody from attempting to hinder legitimate inquiries in any way, including in this instance by failing to provide the necessary documents.”
The EACC source went on to say that there had allegedly been previous instances of Busia County officials interfering with the agency’s investigations.
According to the source, the Commission is pursuing legal action against individuals engaged in malpractice-covering schemes.
