A family in Mombasa County’s Bangladeshi village of Mikindani ward is in mourning following the death of their daughter by electrocution only minutes after she finished a KCSE exam paper.
The student from Kajembe High School met her untimely end while she was returning home after finishing her paper for the day.
She had to cross all of the narrow walkways filled with runoff between the mud and iron sheet buildings because of Mombasa’s severe downpours.
Residents claim that the student died from electrocution when she entered a place where there were submerged hanging electric wires.
One of the residents, Jackline Adhiambo, told The Source, “The girl had not even changed the school uniform, it’s so unfortunate, we don’t even know who to blame but Kenya Power should have taken action before the accident.”
Since then, the body has been sent to the morgue at Coast General Hospital while inquiries are ongoing.
