The processing of loans under the New Higher Education Funding Model for TVETS and first-year university students has been completed by the Higher Education Loans Board.
The first group of students to benefit from the funding scheme will be the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) cohort of 2022.
Students who applied for the money were urged to confirm that the bank information they supplied on their loan application is accurate and current in a press release released by Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu on Friday, November 3rd.
“The Higher Education Loans Board has finalized the processing of loans for First Year students in universities and TVETs under the New Higher Education Funding Model,” the announcement said in part.
The Higher Education Financing (HEF) Portal was introduced by Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu on July 31, 2023. Through this portal, students can apply on an individual basis for loans, bursaries, and scholarships as soon as they receive their admissions letters.
October 7th was the deadline for loan applications.
According to Machogu, the money would be transferred beginning on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, to the individual universities and student accounts.
