Senators claim Moses Kuria is a national embarrassment and want him fired over a tweet.

Moses Kuria, Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Performance, and Delivery Management, is currently facing calls from several senators to be removed due to his careless behavior while in government.

This comes after CS Kuria accused 13 senators of being duped by outside parties during the ongoing impeachment trial of Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza on his X account (previously Twitter) on Tuesday night.

Aaron Cheruiyot (Kericho), Jackson Mandago (Uasin Gishu), Alex Mundigi (Embu), Samson Cherargei (Nandi), Hillary Sigei (Bomet), and Seki Lenku Ole Kanar (Kajiado) are among the thirteen.

Fatuma Dullo (Isiolo), Abdul Haji (Garissa), Wahome Wamatinga (Nyeri), Kathuri Murungi (Meru), Enoch Wambua (Kitui), Kamau Murango (Kirinyaga), and Otieno Kajwan’g (Homabay) are some of the others.

On the second day of Mwangaza’s impeachment hearing, the senators countered by demanding that Kuria be relieved of his duties and that an appropriate censure be placed on his unworthy behavior.

The parliamentarians expressed their displeasure with Kuria’s frequent trivialization of important government agencies and demanded that he be called before the Senate for examination.

“I strongly object to Moses Kuria’s behavior in the tweet and his remarks regarding this House. Senator Cheruiyot, the majority leader of the House, stated, “I now agree that we should discuss the conduct of this minister because, at every given opportunity, he has done nothing but embarrass the appointing authority.”

“In my opinion, it would be best for this government if CS Kuria was relieved of his duties sooner rather than later. Tell him that this monkey business he is trying to impose cannot be tolerated and that senators are not easily frightened.”

Senator Edwin Sifuna of Nairobi echoed Cheruiyot’s comments, stating that Kuria has consistently questioned President William Ruto’s appointment choices and called him a national disgrace.

“The nation’s incorrigible shame is Moses Kuria. To what extent is the president able to take humiliation? More embarrassment is on the horizon, I can guarantee you of that, Sifuna warned if nothing is done about Kuria.

“Action must be taken, and he must be removed from that position.”

Supporting the call to remove Kuria, Senator Kajwang expressed strong feelings, claiming that Kuria has undermined the House and damaged its reputation.

Such behavior warrants more than a simple rebuke. He remarked, “I want to strongly advocate that this CS who denigrates the House on social media be called to testify before the House to support his statements.

“His conduct falls within the threshold of impeachment.”

President Ruto was summoned by Wamatinga to form his government, stating that Kuria was not an exceptional person who should be kept in office.

“I do work with my colleagues to urge the president to straighten up his act. There are plenty of intelligent persons in the Central Region who can pick up the material that Kuria is studying,” he stated.

Senator Richard Onyonka of Kisii jumped on the bandwagon, stating that Kuria had to adjust his strategy quickly before the knives fell. Kuria is noticeably losing his grasp on upholding noble behavior as a state officer.

He occasionally fails to realize how important his words are to Kenyans and that there are repercussions for what we say. We’re all going to turn into his adversaries at this point, so he needs to step up,” he remarked.

Senate Speaker Amason Kingi put a stop to the issue by stating that it would be stamped out at the National Assembly and advising the senators to see it through to completion.
