On Wednesday night, the body of a 31-year-old Kenyan lady who was missing and lived in Whitman, Massachusetts, was found inside a car at Boston’s Logan Airport.
Margaret Mbitu was employed by BAMSI, a humanitarian organization with its headquarters located in Brockton, which was the first to report her missing.
The victim was last seen leaving BAMSI’s premises on Monday, according to the organization’s missing persons report. The SUV she was driving was white.
Based on evidence found in the car registered in his name, the authorities think Mbitu was slain by her partner, Kevin Kang’ethe, 40.
Although it is thought that Kang’ethe escaped to Kenya after the incident, local authorities are still investigating the possible motive for the murder.
Kang’ethe is currently being sought for by Boston police in collaboration with their Kenyan counterparts.
Mbitu’s family expressed their sorrow to NBC News Boston, calling her a “beautiful and happy person.”
According to George Kamu, the victim’s cousin, “We have lost a beautiful girl that we all loved—quite a treasure to us,” the media outlet said.
“Quite a happy person, in and outside.”
